From Sunday, 28th September to Friday, 4th October 2025, the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES) under the Ministry of Education (MoE), successfully organised a national roll-out workshop on the Year 2 Subject-Specific Professional Learning Community (PLC) Handbook for the Senior High School (SHS) Curriculum at the Eusbett Hotel and Tyco Hotel, Sunyani in the Bono Region.

The week-long workshop brought together over 300 participants, including subject leads, teachers, regional and district officers, curriculum specialists, and development partners from sixteen regions across the country.

A major highlight of the event was the introduction of the Subject-Specific App; a homegrown digital innovation designed to complement the Year 2 PLC Handbook. The App enables teachers to plan lessons, design assessments, and differentiate instruction with ease. Participants expressed strong enthusiasm for its potential to enhance teaching efficiency and improve learner outcomes.

Participants were also introduced to the Intervention Mathematics and English App, developed to support learners who require extra academic assistance.

The facilitation team, comprising national education experts, curriculum developers, and master trainers, guided participants through hands-on sessions that demonstrated practical ways to implement the PLC concepts using both the handbook and the digital tools.

Sessions were highly interactive, featuring discussions, group work, and practical demonstrations that strengthened teachers’ understanding and improved their facilitation skills.
Participants also highlighted the need for continuous technical support, particularly in areas with limited internet connectivity, and called for ongoing mentoring to sustain effective implementation at the school level.

The successful roll-out marks a significant milestone in Ghana’s education reform journey, positioning teachers at the centre of innovation, collaboration, and learner success.
