Professor Samuel Ofori Obuobisah Bekoe, Director-General of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), has been officially inaugurated as a member of the Governing Council of the National Teaching Council (NTC). The inauguration ceremony, held in Accra on July 16, 2025, was presided over by the Minister of Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu (MP), who administered the oath of office to the newly constituted Council.
Prof. Bekoe represents NaCCA on the NTC Governing Council and this reflects the Ministry’s recognition of his expertise in education policy, teacher development, and curriculum leadership. His presence on the Council is expected to advance stronger alignment between curriculum implementation and teacher professional standards, two areas at the heart of educational transformation.
Earlier this month, Prof. Bekoe was also sworn in as a member of the Governing Board of the National Schools Inspectorate Authority (NaSIA), further highlighting his strategic position in shaping quality assurance and school improvement frameworks across the basic and secondary education landscape. These dual roles place him at the intersection of curriculum development, teaching standards, and school oversight, offering a rare opportunity to influence coherence in educational delivery at the national level.
His recent appointments come at a time when the Ministry of Education is prioritizing professional teacher development, improved inspection systems, and the integration of digital skills and inclusive pedagogy into classroom practice.
As the education sector enters a new phase of reform and consolidation, Prof. Bekoe’s contributions to both Councils are expected to strengthen collaboration among key agencies and support the realisation of a more responsive, equitable, and learner-focused education system.
