Mandate

The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) is an agency of the Ministry of Education mandated by the Education Regulation Body Act, 2020 (Act 1023) to develop national curriculum and assessment standards for pre-tertiary educational institutions.NaCCA consists of representatives of major education stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service, Ghana Tertiary Education Commission, National Teaching Council, National Schools and Inspectorate Authority, Ghana Book Development Council, the West
African Examinations Council.

Object and Functions


The broad functions of NaCCA are to:
• Develop national curriculum and assessment standards for pre-tertiary institutions
• Determine the goals, aims and structure of courses at the various levels of pre-tertiary education
• Ensure an inclusive and representative curriculum development process
• Make recommendations to the Minister on the number of core and elective subjects
• Review national assessments and ensure that appropriate procedures are followed
• Set up new structures to assess teaching and learning at the various levels of schools
• Review subjects and recommend new subjects as and when the subjects become necessary for the educational system
• Perform any other functions relevant to the objects of the Council
