Approved Textbooks List

The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) acting on behalf of the Ministry of Education (MoE) wishes to publish the official list of textbooks recommended for the Kindergarten to Basic Schools in Ghana.

Training
Guide

In facilitating the smooth implementation, NaCCA has developed the Training Guide to support the preparation of in-service teachers to implement the primary school curriculum. In-service teacher preparation approaches will include training workshops, seminars and classroom support to ensure that teachers develop the conceptual understanding of the subjects and general learning and teaching approaches at each basic year level and phase.
The present school curriculum has been reviewed to respond to the national priority of shifting the structure and content of the education system from merely passing examinations to building character, nurturing values, and raising literate, confident and engaged citizens, with emphasis on science and mathematics as building blocks for success in either tertiary education or early entry in the workplace.

Cross Curriculum Priorities

The core competencies for all subjects describe a body of skills that teachers at all levels should seek to develop in their learners. They are ways teachers and learners engage with the subject matter as they learn the subject. The central them of the Common Core is that the competencies presented here describe a connected body of core skills that are acquired throughout the processes of teaching and learning.
